It's been almost 2 years since I, the creator and maintainer of this community, has written in here. What can I say? I don't even write in my own journal anymore.

I felt that I owed it to (the few but faithful) PD fans out there to post the news. It's actually old news, but news worth passing on nonetheless.

After 10 years of rocking together, Painting Daisies has disbanded. I've known since it happened, but was hoping they'd somehow reconsider.

I actually don't know why they disbanded. I assume some kind of rift between bandmates, which is actually quite sad since they were so tight. But I had emailed (or posted on their message board, I don't remember which) because they haddn't posted concert dates in a long whole. I guess they were trying to get everyone together for a farewell concert, but it didn't work out.

I was so sad... I loved watching them live. I loved how they interacted with their audience. I just loved (and still do!) PD.

I really wished that they had been able to put together a final concert. I never did get a copy of the latest CD, Phonography.

Well, I do have my memories. And when those fail me, I have pictures, 2 t-shirts, stickers, posters, a puck and an autographed CD.

In case any former member of PD happens to stumble accross this in the future, remember that you are loved and adored. You were my all time favourite band. Period.

You will be mourned, and missed.

Jess and I went to see the show at the Sugarbowl last night. Gawd I had no idea it was so small in there! I was leaning up against the cappachino bar, and that topped with the insane high teperatured heat outside, made for a rather uncomfy beginning to the evening. Jess said that Daisy (who was mingling amungst the growd) kept looking at me... I think she was looking at Jess though ;)

It was a great show. I love when they play in small clubs and venues. It's so much more intimate. You can literally reach out and touch your favorite band member!

I took a few pics, so if they ever get developped, they'll find their way up here. If you go to the website though, they have new pics in their gallery from their summer tour.

As usual, I didn't talk to any of them... maybe one day I'll figure out how to say "hi" without sounding like a complete retard.

This past week I've had the most unique opportunity with the band.

David, their production manager, posted on the website (www.paintingdaisies.com) that they were in need for some help while on tour, and to email him if you were interested in volunteeing.

After I realized that they were going to be in Calgary for a show one one of the days that I was going to be there, I decided to email him. This is the email "convo" that followed:

So on Tuesday night, I met up with Jessie after I was off work. We went to the Druid on Jasper and I got to meet the Daisies's manager, David. He gave me a stack of poster to put in in Calgary, and their new CD, Absolutely Live.
Just ask Jessie how freaking excited I was!

I got to Calgary on Wednesday morning. My friend David (same name here, so try not to get confused!) and planned out where we would put up the posters. The show was in Inglewood, and the Ironwood Grill. So we put some up around that area, but for the most part we papered 17th ave, which I'm told is where there's always bunches of people. Well, it rained. Actually, it down-poured. David and I got completely soaked, but damnit, I had an awesome time. I don't think I've ever been so happy to be in the rain in all my life.

Thusday was the show. I woke up that morning with an aweful sore throat and sniffles... most likely caught a cold in the rain (but I'd do it again in a heart beat!) I tried to meet up with some friends in Calgary... but that didn't turn out so well. Anyways, David and I were shooting to be at the Ironwood for 9-9:30pm-ish at the latest... but we didn't get there till 10:30pm. Damnit, I need a car...

For the first time in my life, I got to say, "I'm on the guest list"!!!! THAT was awesome, let me tell you!

The place was full... David and I sat at a table in the back. I stared in awe, as usual. Eventhough I was only able to see that last 30 minutes of the show, it was worth the treck in the rain to hang posters. Definately a chance of a lifetime.

To My World...

This is my community... Painting Daisies.

This band is by far, my fav band of all time. I catch their performances as much as I possibly can; they're a local band on their way to making it HUGE. They recently had a single, "Walking Home Lately" air, so keep your ears open.

So write of your Daisies experiences, thoughts, etc, and I will do my best to keep the community updated on PD news.
